Charlotte bags hat trick of tries, with new girls Alexia and Grace also on score sheet

Charlotte Riley gave an outstanding performance to inspire a new look West Leeds U12s girl’s team, who kicked off their 2022 season at Elland Girls on Saturday.
Charlotte marked the occasion with a hat trick of tries which brought her the Parents Player and Opposition Player of the match awards. A player who his acknowledged to be very difficult to stop when in full flight, Charlotte's best try began on the Leeds half way line and saw her run for the line, dodging and weaving around countless opposition player's before going over for a brilliantly worked score.
Alexia Lambert scored her first try for the club and also scored a fine goal kick. Grace Bastow, notched the other goal.
Taking into consideration that some of the girls had never played before, with this being their first competitive run out as a team, they produced what was described as a fantastic performance in attacking and defensive rugby league, and against a good Elland side.
They were slow in the early stages of the game, but gradually began working together to show some great skills and went on to give the home side a real battle for their money. Despite the score of 36-20, it was a performance to be proud of, and, with lessons learned, and new players expected, this team can only grow stronger and will hopefully do well this season.
After the game coach, Lee Dimberline said “the girls had a great first game, started off a little bit slow, but as the game went on they started to find there stride.”
