The Luke Gill Memorial day

The Luke Gill Memorial day

The Luke Gill Memorial Day

Once a year we play a game in memory of one of our players who sadly lost his life. (Luke died on February 4th 2000) Former team mates of Lukes join us on the day to take part in the game and even though some of them have moved on to different clubs this day unites them each year.

On the day we invite local teams and the local community to come along and support the day. During the day we do a bucket collection for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Leeds General Infirmary.

Leeds Paediatric Intensive Care Unit is based at Leeds General Infirmary where they have eighteen beds divided between a ten bedded children's general intensive care unit and an eight bedded cardiac intensive care unit.

luke would have now been twenty three years old and since his death his team have never played in a number nine shirt, instead a number nine shirt with his name on is displayed in our club.

Lukes family are always welcome and will always be a part of West Leeds and their continued support over the years has been a great asset to West Leeds.

We have very fond memories of Luke and the time he spent at West Leeds will always remain special to us all.

The results of the games played on the day are not important, they are about remembering Luke.

Forever A Team
