Under 15's bring home first trophy of 2019 as they overcome odds at Woolston

Sunday, 20 January 2019, Was game day for the Boy's under 15's side as they travelled to play in their first real challenge, and hopes of bringing home the first piece of silverware of the year. It was headlined as being the 'War of the Roses' challenge after being invited to take part in Ryan Atkins' (Warrington Wolves) testimonial day/game, and against opposition who had not been unbeaten for two seasons.

This was never going to be an easy game with a few lads missing, we also knew that it would be a major test for the boy's with the opposition being one of the premier sides in their county, and the coaching team, not unexpectedly, knowing their charges would be a little on the 'rusty' side due to the seasonal break, and with some training sessions having to be cancelled due to the weather conditions. But the lads put all this aside and accepted the challenge with relish. And they stood up and produced the goods.

The West Leeds Eagle's squad was as follows:
Robbie Mann, JD Wilson, Harry Walker, Codey Downey, Ryan Jones, Owen Gath, Kieran McFarlane, Alfie Cook, Jack Boot, Courage Mkhulani,Cormac Lawton, Caine Glancy, and Jack Johnson.
Interchange: Callum Platts, Kelby Hayward, Alfie Harkin and James Clark.

Result: Woolston Rovers 6-14 West Leeds Eagle's.

After the match, the squad and supporters made the short journey to the Halliwell Jone's Stadium where they cheered on their mentor, Ryan Atkins, in his own 'big game', when the Wolves took on Widnes Vikings in his testimonial game.

Try scorers on the day were:
Harry Walker, Kelby Hayward and Courage King and Robbie Mann with the one goal. Robbie also collected the Opposition Man of the Match award for his menacing display from the back. But from the West Leeds coach's point of view, a special mention for Courage, Jack Boot and Jack Johnson, all of who played fantastic throughout the game.
