Hard earned victory for Ladies against Crusaders

How do we begin compiling this report? Talking to people before the game, everyone agreed that this game was unpredictable between two evenly matched teams, and, adding in the fact that it was played during harsh sunshine and in mud which caused problems in some area's of the field, the game was, in fact, a good one, and those that ventured out to support the ladies were treated to a solid performance, which saw some excellent rugby league being played by both teams.

It was a brilliant team performance. In then the league they have two fixtures remaining, and if these can be won, then we will finish the normal league programme unbeaten, we then enter the play-off's where we will have a chance to reaching the grand final itself. Both our remaining game's are winnable on paper, but nothing can be taken for granted, and the season is far from finished.

On Sunday, the ladies faced very good opposition, a fact we were aware of when we visited them earlier in the season. However, the ladies produced a tough and brave performance. They didn't start well in the warm-up, but it was a different team which took to the field, and they were dominant for most of the game, particularly in the 1st half. The win came through some hard graft and team work.

The forwards were particularly impressive, and really carried the team forward up the pitch, hitting some beautiful lines, with Leah McFarlane orchestrating the play in the middle of the park.
Chloe Wainwright-Morley also orchestrated play, and was the brains in times when we were being tested by Thatto, and managed to cross the line for a deserved try.
Abi Benn put put in a hard shift, playing the majority of the game at full back, defensively solid and a fantastic work rate.
Brogan Townsley-Parker, and Ellena Powell, were both on fire today and came away as joint Player of the Match. Emma Clixby. Also had an inspiring game, putting in a full eighty minute shift, tackling players twice her size, showing little fear in doing so.

Mentioning these players does not detract on other individual performances from the rest of the team, indeed, these player's could not have performed the way they did had it not been for their colleague's, and it was, without question, a good, solid, and impressive all-round team performance, and their 24-14 win was well deserved against an impressive Thatto side.
Player of the match:
Brogan Townsley-Parker
