In round three of the Open Age Women's Division One fixture's. Wigan St Patrick's visited Redshaw Road in what was going to be another hard ask for the Eagle's Ladies against a well drilled Lancashire team. The Leeds ladies certainly gave a performance to be rpoud of, working hard for one another, and matching their opponents throughout the game, especially during the second half.
It was a massive performance by everyone who played so well throughout. Area's still require much work to be done but progress as a team is assured if they continue to improve as they've steadily been doing in their three games so far of the new season. We must remember also, that many of these players are playing together as a team for the first time, and still need to gel as a unit before their full potential is released.
Ellena Powell and Tilly Davies scored a try each, with Ellie-Mae Wainhouse scoring a try and added two conversions to take her total to eight points. Player of the match for Leeds was Ellena Powell, and for Wigan Charlotte Foley.
Top tackler for Leeds was shared by three players, all on 24, with Tullyanne Flint, Ellena Powell and Ellie-Mae Wainhouse, followed closely by Lauren Exley with 22, and Brogan Townsley-Parker nipping in at third with 13. Top hit ups went to Tullyanne (21), Ellena (17) and Lauren (12), At time of writing we were still waiting on votes for players player.
This coming Sunday the Eagle's travel for the first time this season, when they visit Bradford-based Wibsey Warrirors with a scheduled 2pm kick off time.
